These Collector’s Edition Bob Semple tanks have been custom-made for us. Why? Because the Bob Semple tank is iconic!

The creation of the Bob Semple tank was in direct response to fears of a WWII Japanese invasion, with prototypes developed in a hurry during the 1940s. The Bob Semple tank was a light tank designed by (you guessed it) Bob Semple, the Minister of Works at the time. Originating out of the need to build military hardware from whatever materials were readily available, the tank was built on a tractor base from corrugated iron. It was characterised by its unique, yet impractical, design featuring six Bren machine-guns. Despite being a fantastic example of ‘no.8 wire’ Kiwi ingenuity, this tank was deemed a failure. It was too heavy and unstable leading to a poor performance, and never saw combat. It is often listed as one of the worst tank designs in history, however, it boosted morale for the public at the time.

Choose between either matte or glossy finish. If you want a replica Bob Semple tank made in the style of wartime children’s toys, go for glossy. If you want a more authentic Bob Semple tank, go for matte.
