Each corps or regiment in the New Zealand Army has its own insignia, called a corps badge (also known as cap badge or hat badge), to be worn on berets and headdress as a way to easily identify the wearer’s corps.

the corps badge for RNZIR features a golden kiwi on top of a red oval centre, surrounded by a blue border inscribed with ” Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment” and enclosed by silver fern leaves. Above is a golden and red St Edward’s Crown and below is a golden scroll inscribed with the corps motto “Onward”. The corps bagde is fitted on the reverse with 2 screwback pins.
